Petri Dish PS
A Petri dish is a shallow, cylindrical glass or plastic lidded dish used in laboratories to culture cells or small organisms. The lids are designed to hold a filter paper saturated in agar, a gelatinous nutrient medium on which cells or small organisms can be cultured. Petri dishes are also sometimes used for small-scale chemical reactions and for gel electrophoresis, a method of separating molecules. Petri dishes are also used to observe changes in the behavior of cells or organisms over time. They are an essential tool for laboratories, allowing researchers to grow and observe cells and organisms in a safe, controlled environment.
